The Precinct: Artifact Clue Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In The Precinct, tracking down all 20 Museum Artifacts is mandatory for any officer looking to achieve 100% completion and the A Sharp Mind trophy.


These artifacts were stolen from the Averno City Museum, and finding them all is a personal request from Spencer I. Sharp, found in an office at the precinct.


The artifacts are hidden inside locked briefcases (safeboxes) scattered evenly across the city — 10 in Western Averno and 10 in Eastern Averno.


How the Clue System Works


Each briefcase has a Clue nearby — usually a sticky note or a document pinned to a wall, dumpster, or container — that provides a riddle, a math problem, or a local history fact required to crack the 4-digit code.


Codes are often tied to nearby environmental details: dates on a building Plaque, a count of nearby objects, or simple arithmetic found on the note itself.


The first artifact is guided during the tutorial mission with no code required; the remaining 19 must be found through exploration.


The Artifact Inside Each Box Is Randomized


The specific artifact contained in any given safebox is randomized per playthrough — locations and unlock codes are fixed, but the actual item found inside (a mummified finger, a pirate telescope, a dinosaur skull) differs from player to player and unlocks in the same fixed sequence regardless of which box is opened first.


Once a box has been opened, it displays a green checkmark on the map so it's never mistaken for an unfound one.


Three Tips Before Starting the Hunt


If exploration feels slow, focus on regular police duties until reaching Police Officer Rank 16, which unlocks the Artifact Detector — an ability that produces both an audible beep and a green radar pulse on the map whenever a hidden briefcase is nearby.


Several artifacts (in Chinatown, Jonasville, and Ramona, among others) sit on rooftops. Always scan alleyways for yellow ladders, the universal indicator of roof access throughout Averno City.


Each artifact collected awards 250 XP — dedicating a full custom shift to sweeping all 20 nets roughly 5,000 XP in a single sitting, making the hunt worthwhile even outside of trophy chasing.


Completing the Questline


Once all 20 safeboxes have been opened, return to Spencer I. Sharp at the precinct to conclude the questline and confirm the A Sharp Mind trophy.
